The 109th Lakes Hayes A&P Show is just a month away, and promises to be one of the most exciting shows yet!
Set against the stunning backdrop of Lakes Hayes on 11 January 2025, the event will bring town and country together for a day filled with exciting activities, great competition, and family-friendly entertainment.
As the principal partner of the show, Queenstown Airport is supporting a new ZQN Kidzone, ensuring all-day fun for children of all ages; think games, candy floss, face-painting, a photo booth for memorable snapshots, and more.
Another anticipated highlight is the return of show jumping, after its absence from the equestrian schedule in 2024.
"This exciting event is always a crowd favourite, and we're looking forward to seeing some incredible riders and horses in action," Lake County A&P Society president Kate Hamilton says. "The energy and competition in the show-jumping arena are unmatched, and we know this will be a highlight for many."
Another crowd favourite, the hobby-horse contest, will also be making a return, along with the traditional livestock and home industry competitions. Some new pet and lifestyle categories have been added to the 2025 schedule.
The theme of this year's show – Back to Basics – invites attendees to celebrate timeless skills and traditions that have been valued for generations. A series of demonstrations will cover everything from composting for beginners and preserving from you garden to floral styling and upcycling. It's a chance to reconnect with simple pleasures, learn something new, and enjoy hands-on activities.
Sustainability remains a key focus for the Lake Hayes A&P Show, which has reduced waste by 50% over the past two years and aims to become a waste-free event. You can help by bringing a water bottle or reusable cup.
Whether you're taking part, or watching from the sidelines, it's sure to be a fun-filled day out!
